How to create an assignment set
1. Click 'Create Assignment'; there is a shortcut in the assignment menu on the left.
2. Select your group (sets can only be created for groups). If you don't want to set this for your whole class, we recommend setting up subgroups within your group page to make this easier.
3. Click 'Spelling' from the subjects you can only create an assignment set for spelling games at the moment.
4. Click 'Assignment Set'.
5. Choose whether this assignment set will be just for pupils to play the games (Practise), if it is just for spelling tests (Test) or if it is for both (Both) to give pupils the opportunity to practise their spellings using the games but also have a weekly test.
6. Choose the start date and time for this assignment set and the practise period.
7. If you wanted to include both practise and test in the assignment set decide if you want to 'allow break after test' and select your 'Test Day'. Please see the days described underneath both 'Practise Period' and 'Test Period' to check you are happy with these.
8. Select your Stage and starting list.
9. Select your 'Spelling Mode'. If you would like single letter tiles or graphemes to appear in the games for pupils. Ticking 'limit options' means that pupils will only see what you have set.
10. 'Gameplays required' gives you the option to choose a minimum amount of games pupils must play before their game screen unlocks and they can see bonus games and other lists. You can also choose to set this to zero if you don't ever want pupils to see other lists.
11. Click 'continue to organise weeks'
12. Click the 3 dots. Click "Insert Holiday Week below". There are also other options here should you wish to choose these actions.
13. Click "Continue to additional settings" and enter the assignment set name.
14. Assignment sets can be managed in the 'Set Management' page and you will be able to see the weekly assignments appearing from this set in 'All Assignments'. If you can't see them, ensure 'sets' is selected in the filters at the top of the page.

How to create an assignment set
1. To create an Assignment, first make sure you are in the main home screen and then select the 'Spelling Shed' logo on the EdShed homepage.
2. You will find ‘Assignments’ down the left hand side or you can access it via the ‘System’ tab between ‘Scheme’ and ‘Data’ tabs at the top.
3. Go into your assignments screen and click on "+ Create" and "Assignment Set" from the options.
4. Choose your group, stage and start date & time.
Drag/drop to rearrange weeks or click grey + to add holiday weeks, your own lists etc.
Options available are below.
Spelling mode: All letters or all graphemes. This will depend on the age of the pupils and what is appropriate to them.
Enforce spelling modes: This means if you select this they will only be able to place in the spelling mode you have set. If you untick it they will be able to switch between letters and graphemes when on the games.
Limit lists: If you tick this the children will only be able to see the assignments you have set for them. They will not be able to go on and play other games until they have completed their assignment.
Games required: This links with limit lists. If you put the number 3 in there then once the pupil has completed 3 games on the assignment set the rest of the games will ‘open up’ for them to play.
3. Click "Save"
4. If you click on enable tests you can add a weekly test to the weekly practices.
How to delete a whole assignment set
1. To select a whole set, go to assignments, click heading 'Sets' on the right.
2. Click the drop down button and then 'delete'
Creating a break in the assignment set
1. If you have set a 'set' of assignments, simply click on the set tab - then edit.
2. Click the + to the left of the week you do not want any assignments set.
3. Then select 'no objective' and double check the dates are correct.
4. This will now turn black and be a break in the assignments, the rest of the assignments will automatically be pushed along.
